Happy New Year

As you can see, I redesigned my blog a little.
I hope you like it!
I think I do...it usually takes me a while to get used to it.

I am so optimistic about 2012!
I just really feel like it's my year.
I spend NYE with my family.
We watched the fireworks downtown and then had a delicious dinner at Simon and Seafort's!

Crab and macadamia nut stuffed halibut...
I died!
It literally melted in my mouth.

Anyway, I'm sure everyone has their new year resolutions all figured out.
I just wanted to share mine!

1} Be more organized and clean: I've been reading a lot of books, blogs, and magazines and am excited to get back home to VA to start cleaning and organizing.  I'll have to post some before and after pics!

2} Cook more: I used to eat out a lot, but have been cutting back on that quite a bit lately.  First of all, it saves money and {bonus!} calories.  Even though I eat at home, I still have a hard time making good, healthy meals for myself.  Not gonna lie...usually I will eat the same thing all week because my creativity button doesn't work well when making dinner.  Cooking isn't hard for me, I just don't plan ahead and therefore I'm too hungry to take the time to thaw out chicken and then cook it.  I figured I need to start planning ahead and being responsible for my health.

3} Work out 5 days a week {at least}: I know almost every girl says they want to lose weight, but I've already got a head start.  I bought a new pair of jeans last week and got a size down than I normally do!  Best. Day. Ever!  Although some people find it embarrassing to blog about their weight loss journey, I think it's encouraging!  I always love reading blogs by other girls who are losing weight or are aspiring to lose weight.  It also helps that not many of my friends read this! Haha

4} Go to bed earlier: I have always been a night owl and a morning avoider.  I figured since I'm 24, this has got to stop...I'm practically an adult!

5} Run a 1/2 marathon.  I'm scared out of my mind, but I think it will be a crazy, rewarding experience!

So, these are my goals for 2012!
Let me know what yours are too.
I would love to hear your resolutions or hear any encouragement or ideas you have for me as well!
Here's to a happy and healthy 2012!

XOXO

  1. Wow, a 1/2 marathon?? That's an AWESOME goal! Maybe someday I'll be able to do that, too...my knees are terrible and I'm afraid running would be really hard on them. But I'd love to get to a place where I could! I'll be excited to hear about that journey this year!

And congratulations on the new size! That's so exciting!

  2. I've always wanted to run a half marathon too! Good luck training!! :) And cooking more is a great goal!

I'm going for more of a holistic approach of my entire life, but I'm not going to beat myself up over something that didn't quite work out like I thought it would.

    Happy new year, friend!

  3. I have similar goals to yours. I would love to be a bit more domesticated as my bedroom always ends up looking like a bomb was thrown into my closet and the clothes exploded onto the floor. Would love to lose the spare tire around my stomach and that can only happen if I move more.

Hopefully I'll settle on all my goal / resolutions for the year and get started on them.
