Cowboy Take Me Away

A couple of days ago my Facebook alerted me it had been 5 years since I went to the Kenny Chesney concert in VA Beach.
I remember exactly what I wore: Maxi dress and flip flops.
Looking back, why didn't I wear cowboy boots?!
I've teamed up with King Ranch to create my dream outfit for upcoming country concerts!
They have a great selection of cowgirl boots that can complete any country outfit.

I was trying to plan a trip to Dallas later this month to see Dierks Bently, but it just didn't work out.

I've always wanted to see him live.

I absolutely love Dierks' new album 'Black'.

No, I don't condone cheating, but his and Maren's voices on this track is so beyond beautiful.

I put this outfit together with that trip in mind.

It would have been hotter than hell itself outside and pants would be the last thing on my mind.

My two best friends from high school live in Oklahoma and Texas, so I'm always contemplating moving back to the South.

It's just way too hot for me.

But they would be the perfect concert buddies especially since my boyfriend hasn't quite found a love for country music like I have.

My honey is not the cowboy boot wearing type either, but I also saw these on King Ranch's website and thought he'd like them a lot!

If your fella is in touch with his Southern roots, be sure to check out the boots for him.

I tried to sit down and write this post a few times.

I was too busy, didn't have the right words, or was just too lazy.

Too busy because I was packing.

Not the right words because it happened so fast.

Too lazy because...well, I just am sometimes.

The reason for all the stress and craziness {and why I haven't posted in a month!} is because I moved!

Not just a quick move down the street or to another nearby town.

I moved across the country continent last week!

I decided at the beginning of August I wanted to move back home to Alaska.

By mid August I had someone to rent my apartment, someone to buy my car, and all my furniture sold.

It happened SO quickly and I clearly took it as a sign that it was the right thing to do.

Before, anytime I got an idea in my head about moving, I would quickly start to feel panicky and change my mind.

This time, I kept saying, "I just want to be home."

I wouldn't credit it to being "homesick", but being with my family is definitely a plus.

Really, it was just a great place and time to start over.

I had been in Virginia for 7 years and I didn't see my future being there.

I was unhappy with where I was at.

I didn't hate my job, but it definitely wasn't a dream job.

I had a few good friends, but I was lonely.

Overall, I knew moving home would be the best move.

I will have the opportunity to save money, finish my masters, figure out my future...

All the while, I get to be with my family.

I can't believe she's already 6 years old!!

It was rainy and cold, but SO fun!

He was really awesome to watch on stage.

So, from now on, most of my pictures will be of family, lots of snow, and hopefully happy times ahead!

Edens Edge

Do you know who Edens Edge is?

If not, then you should!

They are an amazing country band from Nashville {originally Arkansas}.

They came to Lynchburg and I got to see them a few weeks ago.

This was my outfit.

We had the best time!

It had been 1 1/2 years since we had been together.

It was as if we had just seen each other the day before.

I found my favorite Christmas movie at Best Buy the other day!

I squealed when I found it...which might have embarrassed Jason just a bit.

I had been looking for this dvd everywhere for a long time and had zero luck.

Hense, the squeal!

I just love going home and being with my family.  I haven't seen them for 1 year {except my mom when she came to visit in May}.  I love picking out presents and drinking hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps and mimosas on Christmas morning...and spiked egg nog...well, you get the picture.

Christmas in Alaska is magical and most definitely my favorite time of the year!

Well, if you'll excuse me, I need to go continue watching 24 on Netflix...

NEEDTOBREATHE

Today was one of those days that you think will be awful and turn out being amazing.

I had to get up earlier than normal to get to work which I so wasn't looking forward to.

It actually was so fun to be with my boss and co-worker for longer than normal.

We all got a little crazy towards the end and could not stop laughing.

At one point I made a Star Wars reference and told to my co-worker, "Teach you to bake, I will".

I then proceeded to call my boss Yoda, I was a Jedi, and my co-worker was a young Padawan.

Also, I may have done my Chewbacca impression too...

Seriously?

I hang out with too many guys.

This is what happens when I wake up too early.

In light of that reference my mother sent me this picture...

I went to see NEEDTOBREATHE Monday night!

If you haven't heard of them I strongly encourage you to listen to them.

They are one of my favorites.

My friend Danielle used to date a band member so we got awesome floor seats and stood up at the stage the whole night.

It was amazing!

Bear Reinhart has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard and he sounds UH-mazing live.
