Top 5 Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!
Two more days until the midnight showing of The Hunger Games!!
I just bought the soundtrack and I am so stoked!
Speaking of The Hunger Games, today's Top 5 Tuesday is my top five favorite books.
This will be so hard because I love to read and I have tons of books!
You can find all of the books I write about at Amazon.

1. Tuesday's With Morrie by Mitch Albom

This is one of the most amazing books I've ever read.
It is a true story of Mitch Albom spending time with his former professor, Morrie Schwartz, who is dying from Lou Gehrig's disease.
He not only learned from him as a teacher, but now as an adult Mitch is learning from Morrie about life as well.
This book brought me to tears while I was on an airplane!
I recommend it to everyone.

2. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

I'm sure most of you have heard of this book, probably because of the movie.
I loved the movie, but as always, I thought the book was better.
I couldn't put this book down and I think one thing the movie didn't capture as much as the book did is how sad older Jacob was in the nursing home.
There wasn't many times in the movie that it showed Jacob as an older man, but the book went between him as a young man and him in the present.
I think this made the ending way more exciting in the book than in the movie {although, I cried at the end of the movie as well}.

3. The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer

Ok, however you feel about the movies, the books are amazing!
Sure, Bella's obsession with Edward is totally unhealthy and the movies are super cheesy.
However, I could not put these books down!
I read them all in 6 days...
I didn't have a life for those 6 days and I am somewhat ashamed to say I may have dreamed about the story a few times in that week.
Also, I hate how the movies make Edward look like a psycho overprotective freak.
In the books he was just perfect and loved Bella so much and would do anything for her.
And Jacob is just an idiot!
That's all I have to say about that.

4. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

This is a book that I could read over and over again.
I think I've read it 4 times in the past few years.
I love that it correlates the unfailing love Michael has for Sarah that Christ has for us.
It's beautiful.

5. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

This is one of the few books I actually read cover to cover in my AP Literature class.
I love reading books about the "roaring 20's".
I cannot wait for the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio!

I love reading, so let me know what your favorite books are and I will totally read them!
Off to spin class I go!

XOXO

  2. haha I'm not sure you want to ask me about my favorite books...because I have a LOT of them...

I'm assuming you've read Harry Potter, but if for some reason you haven't...yeah, those.

the Song of Ice & Fire series (Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords, Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons) by George RR Martin are an OBSESSION of mine.

Gone with the Wind AND weirdly enough its sequel Scarlett (which wasn't written by Margaret Mitchell and gets mixed reviews, but I love it).

Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. I prefer S&S but I know P&P is the general popular favorite.

For non-fiction, The Case for Christ, Saying Yes: In Defense of Drug Use, and Ghost Soldiers.

I also like Frank McCourt a lot; his novel 'Tis is the best, but you shouldn't really read that one without reading Angela's Ashes.

For sort of...shock value in a way, but also brilliant stories and writing: Lullaby (Chuck Palahniuk), White Oleander, The Poisonwood Bible (possibly my fave book of all time), The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Red Tent.

How's that for some recommendations? haha
